Nodes

project2891 is comprised of nodes. Each node is made up of a bit of hardware, or a bit of software, or (as in most cases) both. Each node has the capability of interacting with any other through a standardised communication protocol based on International Morse code and the ASCII character set.

The collaborative capabilities of each node is determined by which bits of software (or firmware) it uses and the communication hardware employed.

All the hardware designs are similarly modular, with many sharing a standardised format of mechanical coupling, standardised methods of construction, and a general design which allows each node to be realised in a wide variety of materials.

Each node can be used to preform a combination of functions:
  • The acquisition of information
  • The retention / distribution of information
  • The display of information
